When I look at the membership list of DT most of the folks that participate are identifiable......However, today we have some post by a member who only uses initials.....In my view that is not right.....Am I alone? Or do other DTer's feel the same way....

Agree. I reported your post (the dreaded red triangle) to get admin & other moderators involved.

Is it ok for some to just use their first name? Could be several "Bobs" in an organization.

Well for a username it doesn't matter. For profile fields, we've always asked that members enter a full first and last name along with company name, city and state.

But there are several I see that only show a first name under their user name. (this is on the actual posts.. maybe their full names are on their profiles?)

Well it has happened that some only entered a first name at registration and the system is designed to lock those fields after that so the users don't remove their info. I'll talk with Scott about it....

Ok, I guess I am one of the offenders, but why do I need my last name? I have my first name, company name, city and state. Website is listed, so information can be verified easily enough. Sue

I have no problem with 1st names only, so long as the rest of your profile allows others to identify you....

So if member A uses a first name only (like Sue) and member B is known to all by his initials, as in TJ, what's the diff as long as his/her profile has his/her identity? Royce, what's your point?

First Names only is not the issue in my opinion. The issue is when DT members, once approved then go in and edit their profiles and remove the same identifiers that Admin required to confirm their participation in this industry.

DT Moderators need only submit profiles that require Admin to correct. DT members, just need to click on the red triangle to report it to us.

Scott,

This has never been possible :) The user in question would have had to sign up with that name because he would not have been able to edit it.

Sorry

Chris, then it is corrected now. Again, if anyone comes across profiles where identity is not clear - just report it to any DT Moderator.

Thanks Jim! :o (For the credit info too!)

Besides, there are not many boy's named Sue, but with initials, you don't have a clue if you are speaking with a male or female.
