I found this on Reuters:

TOKYO (Reuters) - Chinese merchandise took a fresh knock Friday when car maker Nissan said it was recalling tens of thousands of mugs it gave away in Japan because the paint contains excessive lead.
It said it took the action after a hapless car-shopper fell ill after drinking from one of the mugs and complained.
Nissan Motor said the cups, which it was giving to anyone who test-drove one of its cars in Japan during a sales initiative that started on August 16, had a lead content that was more than 30 percent above the permissible level.
Japan's third-biggest carmaker said it would recall the mugs, which it said could have reached as many as 87,000 potential customers. It did not know the identity of the manufacturer in China.
Chinese products have come under intense scrutiny over safety concerns in recent months, prompting recalls of products from toys and toothpaste to seafood and tires.

The other day I was asked for an MSDS for a magnet order I was quoting on....That was the 1st time ever for me.....I wonder how many suppliers would just shrug their shoulders if they got a request like that....

So is a magnet hazardous? Even if it is a MSDS is not primarily designed for the general consumer... it is for the use of workers that deal with that hazard on a continual basis. For example, many of your household cleaning products are as toxic as the substances my employees handle, however since we handle those products every day, we need the MSDS, hazard training, a written program, & special handling equipment... a normal consumer doesn't.

We keep the trusty MSDS binder where everyone can see it for all of the inks, chemicals and such but I agree with Jim, I thought is was unintended for the end consumer? Royce, can you attach the magnet MSDS? I'm very curious how they did that. I've never been asked (by anyone other than our local fire department) to see an MSDS but with all of the Chinese lead issues it is more a probability.

Has anyone checked with their Liability and E&O insurance as to any potential issues?

The "Fairview Terminal" is set to open in Prince Rupert BC....

I could not immediately find the information but it will be the closet North American port to China.....And the transit time by truck and/or train to the US midwest will be a day or 2 less than from Long Beach....
