(sigh) Of course "The solution is on the application" to paraphrase your post. We as distributors, and you as a supplier need to be always aware of proper application of ink, location of imprint, how the use of the item itself will affect the ultimate success of the promotion. Our goal is the not delivering a product with some ink on it just anywhere for any reason, we want our client to get more business, or press, or make their recipients happy. We want our client to understand why, know the limits and be delighted enough to work with us again.
Yes, acknowledged that flip flops are worn other than beach environment. Gee whiz, that wasn't the point, was that necessary to say, or are you just feeling defensive? Wearing flip flops inland, from car to office, from home to school, from sofa to kitchen, still means wear and tear on the insole, which would wear off the code. My point was that the idea of placing the code in a wear & tear spot needed to be addressed. The usability of the code as it is intended requires a detailed, fairly undisturbed imprint, unlike some logos or designs, which may still be recognizable after being ground around by your heel. Some logos look better half worn away, but a code on the insole of any footwear will only work for a limited period of use. That has got to be included in the selling presentation.
But the good point in your post was the suggestion that the QR Code be up front acknowledged to be a use-before-wearing idea. Best that distributors sell and represent it that way, so they have the proper expectations set for clients.
So, to build on your refinement:
Event check-in, get a pair of flip flops, use the code to get a discount text, which you show at the poolside bar.
Store grand opening, receive flip flops, use the code to get a text code on your phone. Wear in the flip flops AND show the code on your phone (thereby limiting the passing around of the discount) and get something from the store on your next visit. Might be good for an ice cream store, you get free topping on a sundae. Could name a special sundae for the promotion, for example, "No Beach Sandy Sundae".
Wedding by the lake, provide flip flops for the guests so their nice shoes and heels don't sink into the sand/dirt. The QR Code gives them info on a site where wedding photos will later be posted.
See? We can help each other, that's the point of a forum, and getting feedback, versus an email blast where we just think you are crazy.
With aloha,
