We are trying to get a few Independent Sales reps started in a different state. Is anyone already doing this? They are not classifed as an employee for tax purposes. I send them a 1099 each year. If you have them in another state, how do you have them turn in orders. I use distributor central for my ordering and looking for a few other options. I have no money to invest in asi products, or a cool software called asiprofitmaker. I don't want them to see the net cost on items. Should they email the orders and communicate back and forth about color options and so or give them access to a system to place the orders so that is less work for me?
Any good advice from the pros?

Create an online order form for them using a tool like jotform or wufoo. At lower transaction levels, the service is FREE and very reasonable at higher levels. The designing of the forms is drag and drop easy. Just familiarize yourself with their options then draw a form out on paper and then build it online.

We also use Distributor Central and allow our independent reps to sell anything from our website where they cannot see the cost. We have a written agreement with them about how much they will get paid on orders and have a reserve set aside out of their commissions to cover charge backs and redos, etc. We build up the reserve gradually and agree to a maximum amount in the reserve. We have a form they must fill out for every order with all the permutations, customer billing, delivery address, etc.

Why would a sales rep not know your costs?.....Most reps are paid a portion of the net.....

Do you allow them to place the orders on the front end or login to the backend and place orders. I asked dc about why there are so many options or adding a order under net, retail, and add new order. They said you would always see the net or retail that can be switched.
Do you also have a table that lets the independent reps how much they will make off of orders? Is there a sample form that anyone would be willing to share? There are so many ways to process an order, my thing is the simpler we have it the less time it will take for me to do it considering i handle the whole process. I do have contracts setup for a no compete clause and a contract about the termination of agreement for sales.

True, but they i only want them to see the retail side and try and utilize the codes in the catalogs like K&B does with their programs.
