I'm trying to find the correct PMS colors for the Cingular Wireless logo. I got the logo from BrandsoftheWorld.com, but the blue/orange is CMYK and I need the real Pantone Colors: I found a sign site that specs the orange to be PMS 165, but I'd like some confirmation of that, and I still need the blue.

Thanks all...

Is the CMYK build accurate? We can pull the matching pantone if so.

I found this location, but don't have time to read it through. Maybe there is some info on the colors.

Thanks Isa... I found that one, and www.cingularads.com, as well as a few others. Lots of stuff, but NO pms info.

I had to bail out and just convert what I had to process and get the order done. Thanks again.

This seems to confirm the PMS 165 for the orange...so looks like you're safe if you used this!

Thanks for that... that's the sign site I mentioned, but I'm not sure if the Orange in the sign is the same orange they use for cards, print, etc.

This quest brings up a point for furthur investigation, Why are corporate Identity Departments so loath to give out the specs they demand to be followed? I personally have inquired of three corporate departments and filled out their complex request forms (which I believe they use to go back and intimidate my purchasers as to why they would buy from an independant source) but anyway I have never gotten a decent timely reply so that I could complete the order. I've always had to do, as Rich is doing, scrounge around on websites and PMS charts and such to identify colors, fonts, dimensions, logos, etc. Fortunately my record is 100% so far in producing somthing that is accecptable to the users but believe me if you get crossed up on a corporate logo that doesn't meet specs you may have to eat the job, and possibly lose the customer (recent thread on another forum discusses this about a Hat job)
Anyway I realize those corporate intermediaries are anal and unwilling to make decisions because I've called on them for so long, but if you JOB is corporate identity why won't you tell the supplier of the marketing goods what your colors are??

Maybe Rich will tell us why his customer didn't know and couldn't find out what Cingular's PMS colors are???

Hey Hank - thanks for chiming in. I agree 1000% about big corporations making their colors more accessible.

In this case, my customer owns 4 franchised Cingular Stores. He's got the "manual" that sez "buy everything from this vendor" which has a lock on "approved" items. He wanted an item outside of those items. His book tells him nothing specific - except where to go to buy signs, clothing, interior store stuff, mugs, etc. So he's on his own if he wants to branch out.

He asked them about magnets, they said "sorry, no magnets for you." So he finds me!

And this guy is a nut - he had me layout the art with white type and logo over fat blue/orange bands. He got what he wanted, but if the Cingular Logo Police ever see it, somebody's gonna be in big trouble.

The weird part is that I had to generate color PDFs for him to send to somebody to get co-op money from. All approved! I'm guessing this was a bean counter, and not a marketing person.
