Looks like its been 4 years since the question of payroll service was addressed. As a one man show, I'm considering an online service rather than the traditional ADP and Paychex office. Any recommendations? I have a CPA but he advised a software program that runs about $300 a year. I've seen some online operations at much less than that. Ideally someone that calculates the federal taxes and just doesn't issue a paycheck without all the rigamorole that makes things complicated.

I use Intuit online payroll... they are inexpensive and handle all the filing, etc. Very happy with them!
