Searches don't show anything in the forums on this topic but I'm creating a promotional flyer to use in selling to drinking establishments. I imagine one or two of you are familiar with them! It's already apparent that some of the beer and liquor companies supply things like banners and coasters for free. But any other ideas out there to build customer loyalty or promote events? Here are some things I am thinking to identify: sports schedule magnets, floor graphics and logo mats, embroidered apparel, sports-themed stress relievers.

How interesting that you would mention this. I was looking for ideas on DT earlier today on this same topic!

Holiday themed items: Shamrock shaped key tags, logoed champange glasses for New Year eve, heartshaped stress relivers. . .

Apparel for staff, to sell, Ts for giveaways, pool or dart themed shirts for thier teams.

I have also done bottle openers, flashlight key rings & koozies.

I was thinking of shot glasses and maybe some Dooley cups.
My son's employer is opening another restaurant/bar location, so I was looking for grand opening ideas.

I like the ideas shown above, too! Esp. the seasonal ones, such as St. Paddy's day.

I put the flashing shot glasses from Clegg on my flyer. I suppose event-oriented Dooley cups could work. The challenge, without having questioned any bar owners yet, is figuring out what they get for free from Budweiser and Coke et. al., plus what they get from industry sources with pricing we can't beat. I've got five categories (squeezies, door mats, flashing novelty items inc. holiday stuff, sidewalk signs, and magnetic sports schedules) covered on the flyer so hopefully that gets my foot in the door and I can adjust later if I find I get repeat questions on other items.

Jeff, you would be amazed at how many bar/tavern stadium cups we do. Many are for a theme event/night. Obviously, St. Pat's is huge, but we do them year round. Lots of cities have bar walks, where each weekend there is an event at another bar. So the bar that is having the event that weekend has their info taking up one side of the cup & the back side of the cup has the schedule for the next bars coming up.

I think many taverns use the cups for patrons that are leaving. Rules prohibit taking glass outside, so they switch them over to plastic stadium cups as they leave. Then of course, you have the bars that serve all drinks in plastic. Saves cleaning expenses & many folks bring the cups home for advertising exposure. I took an ASI VP to lunch on Monday & that BBQ place serves all drinks in stadium cups.

We have chocolate foil squares that are great in bowls, also we sell bulk baskeballs (sport themes and holiday themed) foiled chocolate. We have chocolate heart and I been hoping someone would use this anti valentine senitment "Love stinks, let's drink!", and wrapper bars always do well! Cheers!

Thanks for the background Jim. I have some of your samples so I'll take them with me as I "make the rounds."

Thanks Laurie. I'll make inquiries on snack ideas like this. Growing up in Wiscahhhhnsin, many bars served pickled pigs feet. Tough to imprint a logo on those, though.

laser engraved!!!

Seriously, I just did some take out bags with the bar's sandwich menu printed on it. The bags have a little check box next to the item and then you hand it to the cashier who will give it to the kitchen to prepare the take out lunch and place in the brown bag.

To build a regular patronage, consider ways to bring attention to the patrons as well as the bar.

Colorado Timberline has the very large repositionable and laser cut Room Mates, 36" x 52". You can order just one - full color, and laser cut. This would be a great item to feature one of the regulars, full size, from a photograph, stuck up on the wall. Or if a bachelor party comes in, take a photo of the groom-to-be, and put it up on the wall for 3 months. The featured patrons will bring in their friends to see the photo posters. Could be the winner of a contest or drawing too.

Also by Colorado Timberline, are dye sub blankets. Could bespecial event drawing prize. Holidays or sports events.

Text promotions were mentioned in another thread. Its a good way to build a following. Advertise send text "1234" to 7890, and they get a return text message. The message is a discount on bar food. Bring in the device showing the message, get the discount. Advertise on the radio, flyers, ads, etc.

I just met with the prospect. He is interested in doing a "mug nite" with a plastic mug. I know Gold Bond has these; can any of you recommend another supplier that is in the mid-west, who would do a volume discount? They would probably go through about 2500 a month, conservatively.

My best product for bars and taverns are drink tokens. By far the best supplier I have found for tokens is Plasco - Token Factory - www.tokenfactory.com

They used to be ASI but gave it up a couple of years ago. The prices on the website are retail. Distributors get a 40% discount ®

The Token Factory is great but I have bars that now want to use casino like chips for the tokens but they are more money when you print both sides.

If the bars/taverns host a weekly Bike Night or charity poker runs/rallys, which a lot of them do, you might like to check out our Motorcycle Kickstand Pads.

This is great advertising because it is an item that the rider will carry with them wherever they go and use time and again. The reason they will keep it is because it protects their bikes by preventing the kickstand from sinking into hot asphalt or soft ground. 100% made in the USA.

Contact me if you would like more info!
