Hmmm, I would think the hot coffe or washing in hot water would loosen up the vinyl. Hope they don't put it in the dishwasher.

How many of these were produced? Was it one or 2 or did they do a lot? What was the purpose of the mug?
If they just wanted 1 or 2 for show, I can imagine that cut vinyl would be the best alternative. Imagine the set up costs for a 2 color pad printing job for 1 mug!
Sublimation can be done, but the black color and rounded shape of this mug would make that out of the question.

"Her office heard that I did some vinyl work and was interested in seeing what I could do. I made this quick so she could take it and give to the owner of her office. He was amazed with the product and now wants to put in an order for 1 case per realtor they have working. Only change is he wants to raise the logo and put the realtors name and phone number under it.
The realtor will then hand out to customers as they show houses. Good way to keep the logo and names around!
Once I get these done and speak more with the owner, I'm going to work a deal on the ceramic tiles where when customers buy houses we can leave one as a "house warming gift" from the Century 21 office."
