Looking for more ideas in the $3-$5 range to give real estate agents when they attend an educational conference on a small cruise boat. I'm thinking of proposing the theme "Anchors Aweigh! Raise Your Sales in 2010!" I found a toy telescope at Jornik though if anyone knows of other sources to compare with, great. I've done this conference a couple of years and usually hand out pens and lanyards but am looking for something a little more creative and which will help keep the inspirational message in front of agents over the next several months. Gave away a stress reliever from Alpi last year too so I'm skipping the sailboat from Alpi. I see the anchor key floats at keyfloats.com. Any other thoughts? Not sure beach towels or flip-flop are appropriate since we're talking Seattle area. Specials or closeouts are welcome if you know of them. Qty about 150-200. Magnetic memo board from TradeNet with the proposed conference slogan and graphic might be a thought. Thanks Royce in advance!

What about a custom cover jotter book from Sungraphix. Minimum on the jotter or the notes size is 200 and in your budget. It can be used at the conference and they will keep it as a reference. Because of the size it becomes a handy tool for jotting notes after the event too.

Actually in this instance I did not think memo boards.....This is a business to business event so memo board are not the best idea....Is this a "thank you" from the event organizers?....Is this to promote something for someone other than the event organizer as in some sort of service provider?....

Just a caution on memo boards, or any laminated cut-edge product + water...the boards will delaminate and peel if they get wet. Possibly not the best thing to distribute at an on-water event, unless each one is bagged.
If you are self-promoting at this event, consider offering that attendee agents could win a prize if they give you a chance to come present your business at their office. The prize could be 1000 business cards, which you can turn for low $$ via 4OVER. You ask for their business cards, and anyone who gives you a meeting time gets their card entered in a drawing for the prize(s).
To add a give-away item to this, you could give business card letter openers. Imprint the back with your Anchors Aweigh theme and your contact info. Then ask each attendee for TWO of their cards. You snap one into the letter opener while you tell them about your business and your meeting & prize offer. Then you hand over the letter opener as a way of showing them how they can promote their own business with their prospects. Tell them the advantages of your giveaway selection:
1. The letter openers can have the firm's imprint and the order can be shared by the entire office - this appeals to the frugal nature of real estate agents.
2. The letter openers offer two areas of promotion, the back and the insert. One can insert a business card, or any other information, like special offers. Real estate agents could insert a photo of the new home and give it to the buyer, or a photo of the sold home (with SOLD across the front) and give to the seller. Both would be cherished memory items.
3. Real estate is a paper-heavy business. Lots of envelopes to open.
4. BIG imprint area. Many colors to fit every theme (blue for water) or business.

While I likely will have my own booth as a vendor onboard, in this instance I'm looking for ideas that represent the sponsoring organization which hosts the real estate agents and provides the seminars. That's why I was thinking the memo board might be good. Keep the sponsor name out there all year. No danger of exposure to water. Nobody actually gets near the water. Classes are held on a large 2-3 level cruise boat that motors around the Puget Sound while classes are held. Most of the water enjoyment is via views during lunch. While business to business, the event sponsor relies on the membership of these agents to survive. Letter opener is a good idea. Large space for a graphic and I wasn't aware of the paper-heavy nature of the business. Anything that works with or is applied to a cell phone?

Computer buffs, from Handstands are pretty nifty. These are the cloths that you can place between laptop keyboard and screen when you close the laptop down. Keeps the screen from picking up the oils from keys, doubles as a screen cleaner, and triples as a mousepad.
Cell phone screen cleaners are everywhere, but personally I don't find them very effective. Plus the minimums are pretty high.
