Good evening fellow distributors,

My apologies if this post is in the wrong forum, asn’t too sure where to place it... General Discussion, Trade Show Discussion or Running a PP Business.

I’ve been in the promotional products industry for several years now, adding it to my already existing graphic design studio. I’ve been doing well with them— considering that graphic design is my main source of income. My 2010 Goal is to increase promotional product sales to that of the design sales.

I would really like to move into the trade show display arena, designing the display back drops for exhibitors and using suppliers such as Showdown Displays (asi 87118) to provide the hardware. I think this would really help boost my advertising specialty sales since obviously those client are exhibit at a trade show.

My question is this... Is there an efficient and effective way to target trade show exhibitors? I’ve already contacted my existing clients and my cold calling efforts have been cold. By the time I hear of a show coming to town, the exhibitors are already booked with someone else for their displays.
Moving into this area of advertising specialties has been much harder than I thought!

Any advice or suggestions provided would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tucker

Tucker,

Start visiting trade shows & build relationships with exhibitors without signage or with ineffective/hard to read displays. Join local chamber of commerces & ask for old exhibitor lists. For success, try marketing to clients 3-4 months before the show. Or hold a seminar on ways to improve or build a successful show display. Turn your cold calls into warm calls.
TNN lists shows & has an online directory too.

Thanks for the advice. I'll start with the chambers. However, it's so large it's difficult to navigate. There's a show going on now that I'm attending. I'll keep my eyes open when I go.

Thanks again
