I'll be moving my distributorship from the Midwest to the Southern US in 2010.
Is there a source of advice or information about relocating and renaming a distributorship? Or can anyone offer advice or a checklist of steps?
Thanks!

I just relocated from KS to FL. I'm a one man show (sole proprietor) but here is what I did (keeping in mind that we may move again in a couple of years):
1) looked up on-line about relocating a business to FL and ended up registering same name as a AKA and getting new sales tax number. 2) asked for & received leads for local embroider & screen printer on this site:D.
3) kept KS cell number for KS clients 4) got toll free numbers for new office line & fax through MyFax & My1Voice (thanks to recommendations on this site:D). 5) sent all clients updated contact info and reassured them that they will receive the same great service no matter what my physical address is (most of my clients preferred doing everything without face to face meetings anyway).
6) Joined the two big chambers in new area. 7) Had a great Christmas and hopefully will have a safe New Year's Eve and then will get back to work next week updating all my suppliers with new contact and new resale permit number.
Every place will have it's own hoops to jump through but these were my basic ones. . . Good Luck!
Oh also got new business cards & self promos to hand out at the numerous Chamber events I plan on doing, at least for several months.
