I own a promotional items company and we've been heavily optimizing our website for about a year now and we appear on the first page of google and even the top result for many keywords but I have 2 huge problems.
1.Our visitor traffic is going down steadily every month.

2. Potential customers go through the whole process of adding items to their cart once they do click on our site but then don't actually CHECKOUT ( I have a software that tracks abandoned/live carts). This happens 2 or 3 times a day.

Our website is promocenterintl.com please go through the checkout process and tell me if you would order from our website and if not Why? Thanks so much in advance for the help

Two things I found when trying to order a pen was that it said laser engraving free $ .30 cents extra per pen, then when I went to check out there was a $50.00 charge - what for? On the last page it finally told me what the $50.00 was for. If laser is free why $50.00 plus $.30 cents a pen.

Abandoned carts are a part of selling online. Expect several each day if you're getting any kind of traffic at all. It's human nature. People put things in carts, and then walk away. There could be a number of reasons. Some might be your (or your site's) fault, but most probably aren't.

As for the decline in traffic, are you dropping out of the index? Number of indexed pages going down? If you're not constantly churning out content that google cares about, they forget all about you.

Good luck

I think I read somewhere that Google is changing the way their search engine is going to look at websites.

I have been watching the series on Search Engine Optimization on www.lynda.com I had no idea there was so much to learn......You can buy a month for U$25.00.....Much better than going to a "crappy" movie....

Without paying you can watch a few sections.....

I'm sure the economy has had plenty to do with the lack of NEW business for you and all of us.

I used to get calls and e-mails on a weekly basis for orders, and am now seeing maybe a sale or two per month.....

I did a search for "School Bus" on your site and the result was pages of pens. Also tried School and Schoolbus with the same result.

Unless that's all you sell are pens then I suspect that you DO indeed have a problem that needs to be fixed.
