the site layout is the worst I have ever seen between the the headers, announcements, notices, ads & wasted space - we have to constantly scroll down to make the site useful - cleanup & simplify please

Kevin,

First off, welcome to the site! Glad you decided to join us after 4 years of being a member. :)

As for the layout, do you have specific ideas? I am always open to suggestions. Also, what is your monitor resolution?

The way I see it is Chris does not charge any of us a penny to play on HIS site, so he can lay it out any old way he wants. The ads generate his revenue, so I sure don't expect them to go away. Maybe I just have a really good mouse, but I have no problem scrolling. :)

Must have been a real estate agent before he went into promotional products.:D:D

Take a look at his web site - IMO not someone who should be complaining about others site.

What a great 1st post. I'm picturing you meeting someone new and going to their house for the 1st time and saying "clean up this place or I'm not coming over anymore". Do you know what response you'd likely hear?

Chris, kudos to your response. It's not what I was expecting to see as your comeback. Have you changed? :D (just kidding, of course)

Oh, and while you are cleaning up, can you add more post icons/smilies, too? We need one with a different finger than the thumb sticking up. It would make replying to some posts a little easier. Thanks.

Page load times are more important, the forum does load a bit slow and this can irritate some users, but Chris is an ad specialty guy, not a web developer and in general this forum is great if you are willing to have a little patience.

I know the ads generate revenue but the only one that bothers me is the new ad in the first post. Causes the first post text to a few words per line and makes difficult to read. Would love to see that one go away if possible.

Yes, it might be a bit of inconvenience for you & me but that type ad generates more revenue for Chris than a normal banner ad... like mine. I just don't think it proper to ask Chris to take a pay cut just to convenience folks using his site for free. IMO, that is solely a decision for Chris... does he run folks away simply because of his ads? The truth of the matter is if you or I leave simply because we don't like to scroll to read content, that doesn't impact his bottom line one little bit. It is not like you or I running away our paying clients by being annoying... and I most certainly can be annoying. :)

Ads within posts are not something I believe a forum should do, but we as members have to live with the decisions that the forum administrator makes, if enough of us honestly post what we feel about this, I'm sure Chris will respond to popular opinion just like President Obama does.

You guys are doing the right thing by posting about it instead of simply quiting the forum.

IMO- Chris spends a lot of time working on this site to give all members a forum to share information....I hope whatever ads are present are generating revenue that will offset some of Chris's time. These changes are minor at best and don't have any impact on the site's value/functionality. Once again, just my opinion.
