Question for you twitters (or is it twitterers??) I'm thinking about how to set up my account...do you have a separate account for your customers? I'm wondering how I follow my suppliers and have my customers follow me...I don't want my customers to see that I'm following my suppliers...well, you get the idea. How do you separate?

You would have to have two separate accounts for that. However, what's the bad thing about letting your customers know that you follow your suppliers?

In this day, not comfortable with it. Too much cross over and don't want to have to monitor it. Thanks for the reply, thought I would have to have 2 accounts.

Well, I feel the that biggest advantage to twitter is to embrace today's transparency in business. I follow a couple of suppliers, only because they've began following me. I haven't actually looked for them.

Also, you're clients are only going to find your suppliers if they root through who you follow. Just because you follow your suppliers doesn't mean that your clients will see their updates. They only see them if they visit your main page and you were referenced in a message.

I definitely wasn't looking forward to setting up 2 accounts. Without really understanding all the details of how it works yet, one of my worries is that a supplier would send out a pricing specials that maybe I didn't want to pass along in full to my clients but they might see it anyway. Good to know that's not as easy to view as I thought it might be. Thanks for your input!

I can't imagine that a supplier would do that... especially without coding it. I personally don't go to many other people's pages once I follow them. I just get my normal feed and that's what I pay attention to. Whatever you choose, good luck!

I had a similar conversation with a DT member about using Linkedin a few years ago, and then Facebook a few months ago. She is super concerned about which tools to use, and HOW to use them. She didn't want to be linked up with distributor friends who might then see her customers. Or the same thing with suppliers / customers.

It's all just paranoia though. The internet IS real life - information just travels faster than it ever did before. So use the same set of rules you always have. Befriend those who you trust, and avoid those who you don't. Setting up multiple profiles is really pointless because the net has become very transparent. If people want to piece things together, they can do so very easily. So even if you love to complain about religion and politics like I do, there is no point in trying to separate it from your business. People will find it just as easily either way (unless you're one of those who doesn't really stand for anything, and has a second "anonymous" profile or something and I don't believe in that nonsense)

P.S. - Don't forget to follow me on twitter. http://www.twitter.com/chrismillerjr :D

To me, it's more of a question about what I think my followers want to see, as opposed to what I want them to see.

I have separate personal and business accounts because I don't want to inundate people with my kayak fishing activities, yet I still think there's value to us sending out product updates to our customers (and potential customers).

Now, if they want to know more about kayak fishing, they are welcome to follow me both places... :)

i have setup two facebook pages, a personal with political rants and one where I will setup for professional. In FB you don't have to let them cross over as they need to be accepted by you.
