:tongue:Hello, industry colleague:
I have an embroidery machine w/single head. Working well. I use this machine up to 8-month. Very good condition. It works for both head and flat embroidery.
Currently, my office renting term will expire. I'm not going to move the machine due to 500lbs. I want to know where is the proper market to sell it?
I'm not sure if I can sell it to the business owner who wants to open a small business or the people who are already in this industry. Any sound suggestion?
I need your advice.
Thanks!

Contact the manufacturer, get on their list as a seller, they may have someone they know who is looking for it. You wont get as much selling this way but if you need to 'dump' it, its your best bet.
Also contact all the suppliers of backing, thread etc, they again do resell of equipment.
Hope that helps.

Maria - that sounds quite big for a single head machine - did you buy it used? Most of the new ones weigh about half as much. If it is an older machine you may want to judge the market for it - some like old Meistergrams have a following while others like old Melcos do not. I'd also recommend that you do an inventory - hoops, frames, fixtures, etc.
I'd recommend at least starting with a Craigslist ad - they are free and highly traveled. About a year ago I bought a nearly new Toyota single head for about 1/3 of the new retail price - the machine has been terrific.

Maria,
What brand machine is it? I may know a buyer, depending on the price.

Hi, Jim:
Thank you for your message. This machine is AMECO brand. I bought it new in 2005. Only runs up to 60 hours. Kind of new. The machine has done many great jobs! I could not move it upstair, so I'd sell it at $3300 [complete kit with lots of tool]. Do you know anybody might be interested? Thank you for your referral.
Best regards,
Maria

Hello:
Thank you for your suggestion. I appreciate it. But I think the Craigslist is just a place to sell used stuff. Is that right? Well, I will take a look. Do you know anybody that might be interested? Again. thank youfor your referral.

Maria,
Go to this link.
http://forums.screenprinters.net/
On the left side of the page they have a section under sales forums, specifically for embroidery classifieds.
The site gets VERY high traffic and is probably the best most used type site of its kind.
Depending on how much you are trying to get out of it, you might even find a reseller that would buy it and post it to their site. Then when sold it would ship from your location.
Check out Thorton Equipment, they are one such company. Here is their website. http://thorntonequipment.com/ They are constantly posting stuff on the screen printers site.
Hope this helps!!!

Hi, Jack:
Thank you so much for your information. I appreciate it. OK. I will take a look at the web link.
BTW, to sell the machine is new to me, you mentioned: "Depending on how much you are trying to get out of it..." Do you think I ask for $3300 high or reasonable? You see the price from the direct manufacturer rep. listed $9500. I'm not sure if my offer is reasonable:confused:.
Thanks again!

I would put it out there at that price and see what happens. I am not an expert on value of equipment, but for a 5 year old machine with low hours that seems reasonable.

Maria-
I'd still recommend listing on Craigslist - they do allow you to list every sort of item, but they have a few big advantages - tons of viewers looking for all sorts of things and best of all - no charge to list and no selling fees (ebay for example charges both), and with a large item you list locally so setting up shipping is not an issue. So, spend a few minutes writing and ad - if it is not effective you have not lost anything. I'd recommend placing the same ad in all of the geographic around you - they should have a few different areas covering the bay area - for example Boston has about 8 that cover about a 100 mile radius from the city.
If you are looking for a company that specializes in selling used machines try Thorton Equipment - I get occasional emails from them but have not done business with them. My guess is that they take a quite large chunk of the selling price.
