I am seriously considering switching from ASI with ESP
to Sage research including WebStore. I have been with
ASI 23 years. I know there have been many posts on the
subject, but I'm interested in current input.

Hi Victor,
Yes we have talked about this many times over the years. There are pros and cons to everything in this business. You need to see what works for your company. I met someone who is paying over 3,000 a year for ESP and SAGE for the whole package
is under half of that cost with better features.
Go to www.sageworld.com and sign up for a free 30 day trial so you can see how it all works. The back end search features, ratings are great and the presentation and virtual samples work so well.
I do my website with them too. Included in all of their packages. They do offer client company web store add ons too. For me I took off the Search Feature, Webstore for my type of business. I deal with clients one to one face to face most of the time. I want my website to be an information portal for clients. I set up a Product Category Area for my out of state clients to shop the website but did not add back in a full search feature. Again, that is for my type of business.
I also have Indpendent Resellers on the road to grow my business and did not have the need again to add the extras.
You can see my site at www.penguinpromotions.com I added a few things as I know how to write a small amount of HTML code. Some of the pages are not live yet and I am working on a new header and page picture with my graphic artist.
SAGE has a graphics art dept too and they will help you set your site up if you go with them.
All the best. Keep us posted on how you make out with it.

I have been more then happy with ESP going from ESP to Sage and now back for the past couple of years. A single user subscription with logomall will cost approx 2300.00 which is more than SAGE. I personally like the product.
But I think the bottom line is whether you hate ASI. I don't.

I went from SAGE to ASI about a year ago. Night and day to me. I mainly use it for ESP, but do have a logomall as well. And FWIW, I was with SAGE when it was brand spankin' new. Went with them becasue at the time, we were still using the Register. If I remember correctly, ASI had CDs at that point too - same as Sage, but it was just stupid expensive (don't hold me to this, but I want to say in the $10,000 range?). We started out with the Sage CDs and then went to the online version - and that was with Dial Up. It was still faster than the Register. :)

Wait a while. ASI will eventually get you to dislike them. It me 40 years to get to that point.

Not for about 10 months or so. I ran them both for a month - head to head on every search. ESP was more accurate in searches, easier to narrow down, more correct information, better photos, better interface with virtual samples, etc. As far as their website / e-mail servers-way too much downtime. Go in and look at their server stats - they are (or at least were) horrendous. The only advantage I found in SAGE? It's cheap. Okay...one other...their trade show girls are better looking than ASI's.
Besides, I was tired of waiting for the SAGE update that had been promised for 2 years. I think they did finally update right after I got rid of it.
