I have a limited budget, and I have been using UPIC up to now. Who do you suggest. I have a website friend who is willing to build my site but I have to choose a search engine for my products. what do you suggest? UPIC seems ok, but it doesnt seem to have all that is available. Thanks.

Linda, you can combine your UPIC (DistributorCentral) with PMDM, Impact and SearchStar. all these are FREE product search engines.

Linda,

PMDM -PMDM.com
SearchStar - SearchStar.com
Impact - impact-i.com
Distributor Central - DistributorCentral.com

Distributor Central will probably be your best bet. You at least have a bit more control than the others to make it look "your own".

Linda,
even with a limited budget, I would consider using either the one that comes with your Sage membership for 495 a year or look at The Logo Network offerings. Both are well worth the investment.

I dont know anything about Sage or The Logo Network. I am hearing bad things about ASI, so I dont know what to think. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Linda, just go to www.DistributorDemo.com and take a 7-day test drive of one of our systems.

Sage probably also offers a Free Test Drive.

Linda,

All the mentioned websites can be useful to you. We use Distributor Central for our free website. I don't use a professional web designer (although I probably should). DC is free but can be a little tricky in designing the site. Your or your designer will have to devote some time in order to learn it. In addition, Scott Johnson's Logo Network offers the ability for you to add virtual samples to your DC website.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, what is your opinion of ASI? I am hearing both good and bad things. They have called me, but I am not sure what to think.

I have ESP through ASI, but only beause I get it at a reduced rate as a Kaeser & Blair Dealer. Otherwise, I would go with SAGE.

Linda, ASI is what you make of it. We have it, use it, and love it.

Linda,

There are several threads on comparing the different programs available to distributors. Here is one that will get you started: http://www.distribut...paring+ESP+sage

You will see that people have strong feelings on both sides of the issue. I personally feel that you have to decide for yourself what works for your company and go with that one.

And I avoid ASI at all costs. ;) The decision is yours, but I would recommend you look deep at any company you deal with.

By the same token, I bet there is not a single distributor in the top 100 in the country that is not ASI.

Although I don't agree with everything they have done (or even continue to do), that says something.

Which top 100 would that be? ASI's top 100? LOL

We see ASI's biased, twisted news every day. It does not take ASI's tools to create a top distributorship. Those that believe that, might want to question their ability to run a successful business on their own because some are basically saying "I couldn't do it without ASI" and that's pretty sad. ;)
