Good Morning!
We did some Quencher bottles for a customer that were delivered a couple of weeks ago. We had done these bottles before without problem from the same company. Yesterday customer calls and says she was taking out some of the bottles to give to new employees, and some of them appeared to be "reused" - what she describe is that you can see is a "ghost" image of another logo on the bottles with my customers logo over it, they are also scratched.
We did 250 bottles, she went through on box of 46 and 16 were like this. I called the company yesterday and was told "we don't do that" - referring to "reusing" product. I am assuming what happened is that they ran some bottles wrong for a customer, removed the logo and reused them for my customer. The company said they would call me back this morning - just wondered if anybody else had ever encountered this problem.

Thanks
Kim

I've heard of it being done but never ran into it myself. Maybe Jim Knecht can confirm, but I think after ink is cured there is no chemical that does a real good job of getting it off. Maybe they were corrected before going through the oven or being flashed?

Kim, was the ghost image in the imprint or the product itself? Two ways to get a ghost image. One of which is as you state, where the product is printed & then wiped off later. Even if the product has not gone through the full drying process, it is possible for the image to ghost onto the product. You can likewise get a ghost image in the imprint itself if a screen was reused & not reclaimed properly.

The ghost image is on the product itself....and not just one other company logo....of the 16 messed up bottles so far, my customer says she has found ghost images of 3 diferent logos - not all on the same bottle.

Be sure to ask her to save the damaged product along with one of the good ones so that you cna prove your case, if need be. Compensate your customer NOW and fight with the supplier without involving your customer, if possible.

I would think your assumption is then correct. Don't hesitate to go higher up the food chain & talk with a manager or owner. I'm sure the cs rep is telling the truth, but all it takes is a mistake on the production floor.
