I sold one of the first domain names I ever bought in the low 5 figures. So yes people do pay $800 for domain names.

No doubt... domain names have gone for millions with absolutely no content.

When ever I do a self promo or direct mail offer, I usually have a "vanity domain" to go along with it....They often give me an easy way to have potential clients enter my website....It will take them right to the page in question and then they can go from there.....

I've got several domains I've been considering offloading, Where do you have luck selling them?

And really, what's $800.00 for an "integral piece" of your marketing?
That is not costly at all... 1-800-Flowers paid more than a million dollars for the vanity telephone number...IDEAGUY

it comes down to whether the domain is an integral piece of your marketing.

Now, as for domains, I have over 100 that I did not pay others for.
