Thread: Anyone else with mail problems?

A recent patch to the internet's DNS servers has caused trouble for a lot of people. Is anyone out there on DT having trouble with sending / receiving email or accessing certain websites?

Looks like we have lost a lot of emails. Nothing in our multiple accounts since around 5:00 am. Now, emails appear to be coming in, but none of the old stuff.

Keep in mind, mail is rarely actually "lost". Two mail servers will go back and forth several times before giving up. I guess what I am saying is, if they are out there, they will either come in eventually or bounce back to the sender. Someone will know....

well, that does us no good when the art dept is looking for art on jobs that ship today. Doesn't help either if a distributor emailed their order to us, expecting it to ship tomorrow... but we don't get it till next week.

Chris walked me through flushing our DNS which seemed to help. I saw walk through this, because he speaks a different language than I do when discussing this techno stuff. Good thing about Chris, is he is patient with idiots like me & works until the problem is resolved.

For any of you techo idiots like me... find a good nerd like Chris.

The only mail problems I have are the emails about male problems.

Did flushing the DNS help?

From what I understand, yes it can impact it all. Idiots like me think of the internet in simple terms. I think that if I were to send you a message, it would go from my computer, to the internet computer then yours. Well Chris showed me a command that can be run, which shows you all the servers the messages have to go thru. For me, dooleycups.com has 17 such platforms it must go thru in transmitting emails. As Chris stated, if any of these is having an issue or hangup... the mail either slows down or stops.

If you are curious, the steps to run the trace (from windows) is to go to the start menu & select run. It should default to run with cmd, so just hit the enter key. Then type tracert dooleycups.com (in my case... substitute your domain)
